2012 and 2013 Recap!

This blog is mainly for us to look back on years down the road, so I made it a goal to start blogging regularly! I'm starting off by recapping just a few of the wonderful things 2012 and 2013 brought our way!

My boyfriend (at the time) and I both graduated from the University of Minnesota in May of 2012. Adam graduated with a BS in Biology and myself with a BA in Public Health. It was an amazing feeling and we both felt oh so happy to be done! We had lots of family in town to celebrate with us- so blessed.

Adam and I celebrated our 1 year anniversary of dating in May of 2012 with a road trip to Southern Minnesota. Our destination was a friends college graduation party, but we made it a trip to remember with several fun stops (Nelson's Creamery was our favorite).

We had a wonderful summer/fall of 2012 filled with lots of trips to both our cabins, Twins games, concerts, the Minnesota State Fair, pedal pub, Zombie Pub Crawl, friends and family! Adam was really into his slack-line this summer and always brought it wherever we went! One of our favorite memories of summer 2012 was the birth of our niece, Emeri Joy Prosser. She made her grand entrance on Adam's birthday, August 1st! Adam and I were mini-golfing in Edina when we got the call that she may be on her way. I had a surprise party planned for Adam that night at Applebee's with all our friends. Long story short, Adam and I spent his birthday night at the hospital meeting our beautiful new niece and our friends (who didn't get the message that it was postponed) celebrated Adam at Applebee's without us.

Adam started his first year of dental school at the University of Minnesota School of Dentistry in August of 2012! I am so proud of him and how hard he worked for this. I will always remember the long nights of studying for the DAT entrance exam, lengthy applications and him traveling all over the country for different school interviews. It is a four year program, so he will graduate in May of 2016. It was such a blessing that he was accepted to this school- as it meant that we are able to stay close to family and friends! I started a new job at Ellex Medical in Eden Prairie as a Service Coordinator that August. I also bought my first car, a Prius!

We got engaged on November 23rd, 2012! It will make me cry to describe how happy I felt during the time, but incredibly blessed comes close. Adam is my best friend and I couldn't think of anything else I wanted more than to be his forever. It was a magical time and we were so excited to share this news with everyone! We quickly decided to have our wedding at his lake cabin and plans started to unfold from there..

Winter of 2012 seemed to fly by in the blink of an eye! We were knee deep in wedding planning and loving every minute of it. Some fun things that winter were Christmas at the Metcalfe's, a Mad Men themed New Years Party, watching RedBull Crashed Ice races, St. Patrick's Day in St. Paul, volunteering at Camp RYLA (Rotary Youth Leadership Awards) and lots and lots of studying for Adam! Bridal showers welcomed us into spring and it was a straight shot to the wedding from there! Here are some pictures to recap these fun times :)

The Wedding-

August 17th, 2013 was the best day of our lives. It was mid-70's with a strong breeze, no clouds and most importantly...NO RAIN! That was a huge answered prayer with having an outdoor wedding. People always said to savor the day, because it goes by so quickly. Boy, were they right or what! The day started off with us girls driving to Hair Success in Fargo from Detroit Lakes to get our hair done. We then split up and my sister, mom and myself went to get makeup done at Adae Salon and the others went back to the cabin to get ready. Lots of pictures, tears and laughter later and we were officially Adam and Courtni Erickson. The night was spent dancing under the stars with everyone we loved and soaking in all we could of this amazing day! There were hiccups and things in hindsight I would have ideally liked to change, but it was still the most perfect day in my opinion. There was so much laughter, love and an undeniable peace surrounding this next adventure we were taking together. I love Adam more than I'll even be able to put into words. God sure knew what he was doing when crossing our paths, because I can't imagine a more perfect match. He completes me in every way and I am so honored to be his wife. Okay, before the tears start...I'll start uploading some pictures! ;)
